Ingredients for Apple Potpie Recipe
- 14 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 1/2 pints flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup cold butter
- 1 cup milk
- Large pinch salt

Instructions
- Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Rub in cold butter. Add milk to dough.
- Line 1/2 of dough in a shallow stewpan to within two inches of bottom.
- Pour in 1 1/2 cups water, apples, and sugar.
- Wet edges and cover with rest of dough.
- Cover pan and let boil for 20 minutes. Place in moderate oven until apples are cooked.
- Remove from oven and cut top crust in four equal parts.
- Dish apples, lay on them pieces of side crust cut in diamonds and pieces of top crust on a plate. Serve with cream.
