Ingredients for Apple Pie With Meringue Recipe

  • 2 pie crusts
  • 3 cups of applesauce

Meringue Ingredients

  • Whites of 2 eggs, beaten dry
  • 4 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

Instructions

  1. Make and bake a pie crust.
  2. Set the cooked pastry in a suitable plate and fill two-thirds full with sifted apple sauce, reduced by cooking until quite thick.
  3. Cover with meringue and let bake eight or ten minutes in a very moderate oven.

Meringue Instructions

  1. Beat two tablespoons of the sugar into the whites, beaten dry, then fold in the rest of the sugar and the vanilla.
  2. After the meringue is spread, sift granulated sugar over it.
  3. The oven must be moderate.
  4. The meringue should not color until after eight minutes.
