Ingredients for Apple Pie With Meringue Recipe
- 2 pie crusts
- 3 cups of applesauce

Meringue Ingredients
- Whites of 2 eggs, beaten dry
- 4 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

Instructions
- Make and bake a pie crust.
- Set the cooked pastry in a suitable plate and fill two-thirds full with sifted apple sauce, reduced by cooking until quite thick.
- Cover with meringue and let bake eight or ten minutes in a very moderate oven.

Meringue Instructions
- Beat two tablespoons of the sugar into the whites, beaten dry, then fold in the rest of the sugar and the vanilla.
- After the meringue is spread, sift granulated sugar over it.
- The oven must be moderate.
- The meringue should not color until after eight minutes.
