Ingredients for Apple Gelatin Recipe

  • 2 pounds apples, pared, cored, and quartered
  • 2 ounces vegetable gelatine
  • 1 teaspoon essence of ginger
  • 6 ounces sugar
  • 1 pint cold water

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the gelatine in a pint of cold water. Add the sugar and essence of ginger.
  2. Put in a stewpan and let it boil for five minutes, being careful not to let it burn.
  3. Next, put the apples into the liquid and boil until they are soft but not broken.
  4. Take out the apples and place them in the casserole mold rinsed out with cold water.
  5. Strain and color the liquid with cochineal and pour it over the apples.
  6. Serve cold.
