Ingredients for Apple Gateau Recipe

  • 1 pound apples
  • 3 ounces loaf sugar
  • 1/2 ounce vegetable gelatine
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 pint water

Instructions

  1. Peel and core the apples, cut them into quarters, and stew them with the water, sugar, and lemon juice until tender, but not broken.
  2. Remove apples carefully and add the gelatine to the liquid. Stir until melted and return the apple for a few minutes.
  3. Pour into a cold mold with cold water and let stand until firm.
