Ingredients for Apple Dumplings Recipe
- 5 apples, pared and cored
- 4 tablespoons vegetable shortening
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- Sugar
- Cinnamon
Instructions
- Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together.
- Work in vegetable shortening with finger tips. Gradually add milk, mixing with knife to a nice dough.
- Roll 1/2 inch thick and cut into squares. Lay an apple in the center of each an square.
- Fill up centers with sugar and cinnamon and take corners off the dough. Pinch together.
- Place in a greased baking pan. Dot over with sugar and vegetable shortening and bake in medium oven for 25 minutes or until nicely browned.
- Serve hot with milk.
- Sufficient for five dumplings.
